This has likely been
done before but I thought I might pass it on. I got new headlights from Franzose and didn't like the glass in them so looked on the forum for ideas on how to remove my old lenses, I found it very difficult to remove the lens by just trying to remove the bedding compound without chipping the lens.
The approach I took which worked very well was to sit the headlight lens down in a container just a little bigger with about 20mm of standard cellulose thinners for 48hrs after that the lens just lifted off the headlamp.
I hope this info is helpfull to someone.

Cheers Stan.

Brilliant tip Stan.

Have broken one headlight trying to remove glass.

First have tried to heat it in own on 100°C- no luck
Then tried to remove sealant with micro drill but no luck. Took me to many time for questionable result.
After that did not tried anymore.

This will definitely try

Very useful info. There is a place called Ashford Chroming who will re-chrome headlights — but only if the glass is removed. This is useful if you have the early type of headlight (now obsolete) with the built-in pilot light and don't wish to replace it with the later type.

BUT . . . what do you use to re-affix the glass after the work is done? Any suggestions?

Body sealant, I use the stuff they glue wings on with, comes in different colours, white, grey and black so can match up with the original glue colour.

This is BRILLIANT

I used saBesto rtv super silicone as it can stand temps up to 260c main reason was that I was worried about the temperature of the halogen bulbs
