Hello From Japan!!!

Hello. Acctually I'm in Manchester, UK, but my freinds brother is in Japan who has a renault quatrelle 4 GTL. He is asking about rear wheel bearings so hopefully some one here can help as he can not get parts in Japan. He has also sent what I think are 'VIN' plate numbers, numbers from an 'OVAL' plate and engine serial numbers. Can any one suuggest where to start as I havent joined a forum before.

Hi Kelvin, there's a company in Germany who have a large range of R4 parts, www.franzose.de, their catalogue lists the bearings your friends friend requires, but he will need to measure them before ordering. If he phones them they do speak English. Also there is a company in France, www.melun-retro-passion.com, they could help too. Their parts list is downloadable. Failing all this there might even be a kind person on the forum who has the bits required. Regards, Brian.

These are common tapered bearings and providing he measures them or writes down the part number then he ought to be able to get them from a bearing supplier in Japan. It's unusual for all four bearing to go at once anyway. If it's just the outer bearing he needs then they can be replaced very easily. If the inner ones have gone they need to be removed carefully so not to damage the grease seal.
