Having run Renault 4 since 1973 I have learnt most of the tricks,I suppose!Have had 5 of them over this time,but only one rusted out(rear suspension trunnion mountings-not worth repairing then) Others crashed,or killed off by overloading & really hard work.My present one belonged to Robert Wyatt & partner Alfie Benge-bought from them as an Insurance Writeoff,& roughly knocked back into shape.Have done about 465000 Renault 4 miles-still get a huge buzz at the wheel! Also into British salmson cars,Austin 7 specials & have an Ariel single motorcycle

Hi Richard, Robert Wyatt the musician eh, a fellow Renault 4 driver was he!?! I'm also into Austin 7s, was it your R4 I saw at VSCC Cadwell Park a couple of years ago?
Thats a helluva lot of R4 miles you have done there, think I've only done about 15,000 over 2 cars.

It was me at Cadwell,right enough!Robert Wyatt cant drivewheelchair-bound,sadly) Partner Alfie did the driving.Went to spain I recall.I had given the car the oil-in chassis treatment for them years before she crashed it,so it was it was not rotten and worth paying to have brought over to my place-has done me well with minimal care & attention-never garaged!
