Hello friends!

My name is Janko, i come from Slovenia (Primorska region). I am 22 years old student (informatics).

I have a passion for cars and driving. I prefer older cars. Renault 4 is my second car, but first serious everyday car. My own first car is Lada Niva, but it's used mainly for hobby. Last months i've been forced to use my Niva for daily commute, which was very overwhelming for my wallet. (Niva drinks 12-13l/100km). This is why i was searching for a nice economic car. I have great memories of a Renault 4 (we call it katrca here :-) ). My grandma used to drive me around when i was a little kid. It was a very fun car and i have a lots of nice memories of it.

I've been in the search for R4 for month or two. We have a lot of R4 in our region. On a usual day, you can easily see 2-5 of them on the road. They hold the prices, though. For a good R4 you have to pay 1000-1500€. At the start of the month, i had a excellent oportunity to buy a good one for a good price.

I bought 1992 R4 GTL with 69.000km on it. It's in a good condition, protected for the rust as soon as it came from factory and is well maintaned. I got it for 400€. It runs very nicely.

I changed all the oils, all the filters, spark plugs, set the ignition and timing and both rubber belts. Consumption is very low, around 5.5l with mostly city to city driving. I am very pleased. I named her Catherine/Katarina. :-)

Nice one you got there.
Only 69000km...... it did not even start to run yet.

Just do not let Slovenian winters start to take action on body and chassis. it would be shame to lose such nice specimen. Keep rust far from it.

Mechanical part of car is "peace of cake" Should not make any problems especially in so low km car

Mine is also 1992 GTL from Slovenia, but in not so good state.
Temporary in boxes all over garage!
My plan is to get it there in factory state (maybe even better in some details ;))

Thank you very much for your words :-)

About winters.. I live on the south-west part of the country (20km from sea) and we have very mill winter and no snow, temperature max to -5°. That's a plus.

I wish you all the best and good luck with your plan. :-)
