Hello, and greetings from Sombor, Vojvodina, Serbia.
My name is Sergej (yes – one of those Russian hard to pronounce for English speaking people names. I suppose the nearest to correct pronunciation is if you write it Sergey). But most people just call me Serge (yes, French-like sounding). Well, now having said that I guess it would sound rather silly to tell you that I am a bit of an Anglophile – which I am;) . As most of my fellow Serbians, Croatians, Bosnians... well – Balkans natives I beg your pardon regarding my English and apologize in advance. So far I spent half an hour just writing this part with a little help of my friend – MS Word spell check.:)
Nothing special about me, really. Owner of one modest beige colored Renault 4 GTL that just turned 20 (the car, not me – I'm almost twice as old), made in Slovenia. Stock car if you don't count few rust spots on the body and several rather silly gadgets, but about that some other time. Psychologist by education, like reading, writing, humor (British especially), radio, beer... well, "fat with spectacles" about sums it up. Oh yes – I like Renault 4 in almost all it's forms.
I see that some of Renault 4 Serbia forum members already joined in here. Petak, milosbeli, Sava and of course John Doe. I suppose they would vouch for me, especially John.:D I've been visiting this forum sporadically for a quite long time now (few years) and I said to myself that I have to register before R4 turns 50 years. So I did.
I suppose you have a lot of positive comments but nevertheless – great site and forum. I especially enjoy (apart from technical tips, great photographs etc.) witty comments and pictures. Like these:

I shall try to obey rules of this forum and for now just read, read, read to get to know you and the forum better. I understand copyright issue regarding pictures and other material, and am aware of "search" option. So, I suppose I will not cause trouble... at least concerning these matters. :D
About R4... well, I had one back when I was 5 years old – yes, it was model car about 2 inches long but nevertheless. Drove one several times as a teenager... well... it's love I guess.
Last year I moved from Belgrade to Sombor (some 180 km) using my R4. True, I do not have many things, nothing bigger than washing machine but still... I thought: why employ a "man with a van" when I have my own little carrying mule. Other than that I try to keep it well taken care of – don't think that I carry bricks in it every day.;) For me it's every day car. I still struggle to keep it on the road (MOT, taxes etc.) because for me it is first, and for my spouse – second car.
Well, that is about it for now.

Welcome to the forum ,this is a great place where R4 enthusiasts from all nationalities meet.
Good to have you aboard.

Welcome to the forum, I'm honoured to have met your infamous John Doe, this past weekend, I hear he puts random notes on peoples cars! ;)

My last conversation with the poor chap was standing waiting for the lovely French toilets on Sunday morning, waving at Azazello as he sauntered past!

Hello Sergej,
welcome to the forum. I am sure you will be more than happy over here.

pepper I did pass by your tent to say goodbye but nobody was home, anyway nice to meet you and I do hope to see you again.

P.S. Next time it will take you more than words to keep me away from that lovely bacon :D

Next time when we book our tickets, if we all mention the forum here they should put us altogether, which would make things a lot easier ;)

Oh and next time we will bring a huge pack of bacon, as French baguettes and English bacon are the perfect partners ;)

Welcome to the forum Sergej!

We too have a Slovenian-built GTL. It was made in 1990.

:)

Welcome Serz :)

Funny story about that bacon - when I woke up on Monday morning deep in a forest somewhere in France, I really wanted bacon. Pepper had given me a camping gaz burner but I had no matches... What to do? Can't light gas with a cigar lighter, so I placed the cooker on my handy engine bay tool shelf and lit it up with a spare spark plug and Felicia's ignition coil. Perfect! Thanks Pepper!

Look who is here!

Welcome to UK (or should I say INTERNATIONAL) R4 pages.

see you here and there!

Gathering in Sombor, welcome!

Well, I know it is a long shot, but... we are having a little gathering in Sombor on 15th of october this year. I suppose not many of you happen to just wonder in these parts but still.. if anyone is near by and interested in joining in you are more than welcome. Sombor is located in Vojvodina, Serbia. Google maps ought to find it just fine. 100 miles north of Belgrade, 130 miles south of Budapest.
Welcome!

WSR Hungaroring 2013.

It's not worth opening a new thread I suppose so I'll just put it here. Our little bunch managed to participate in this year's WSR event at Hungaroring – yesterday – 15.09.2013. :D Apart form "posing" as collectors we were enabled to drive a few laps on Hungaroring F1 track. (When I say "we" I mean they – my friends because I could not be there. ) Anyway – here is the video – it's not best quality but other people filmed too so when they post it I'll let you know. There is a interesting bit when Megane RS overtakes in slalom (06:20).

Edit: Here is another one – more exciting. I'm sorry that most of you don't understand the language but you are not missing much – first lap co-driver is panicked because of leaning of the car, and later on they comment French female journalist or photographer. :D By the way – the driver is djenka – he is a member on this forum.
