I've acquired a Renault 4 which is right hand drive as it was commisioned new by a lady teacher who worked in Cyprus at the time. So one lady owner from new, never raced or rallied etc. It's a P reg and grey (?) tho i don't have the log book yet so don't have much more info. It's been re-registered in the UK and is currently SORNed.
I've always liked the Renault 4 ever since I saw a French farmer loading his rotavator into the back of one. This is quite a nice one, the main problem is it hasn't run for a long time. Apparently it needed a new fuel pump and she couldn't get one. The brakes were seized on and i've cured this by removing the brake shoes so at least we can move it about.
The challenge: it is too nice to break for spares but I have other projects on at the moment so will struggle to recommission it myself tho' I would love to. I have an Austin 7 and chrome bumper MGB and the R4 mechanics seem remeniscent of both! We've got some new brake bits but no time to fit them. I am wary of just subbing this and other work out as it could quickly come to more than the car is worth.
If it does need a fuel pump, are reconditioned ones available now?
