Hi guys! i need (any/all) help to identify the code 77 00 598376 FMA
in addition it is stamped with Sept.-83 (refrb.date?)

These are the only numbers given on a -likely-refurb'd 5-speed gearbox
type HA 1
Round code/type/number-tab on top square lid isn't there,so I need to find
out if this is the g.box with 5th.gear being Direct or Overdrive......

Not sure, but thinks this is a refurbished gearbox and has never been used
since.Code looks similar to orig Renault parts-code,but I can't find it at all.
Also suspects last letters FMA is somekind of code/name for factory that
remanufacture these..

-Any/all help/tips/assistance Greatly appreciated!! -R.

Hi jjad-I'll check it out,but don't let that stop all of you with intel on this.
I believe this to be a refurbished/totally overhauled gearbox-what makes it interesteing
is the fact it has never been used since "new" but for me it has to have an overdrive..

PS: my French gets better the more red I have-near the bottom it's quite imphic!able ...

Take the end off and count the teeth on the 5 th gear ? Same with diff ratio take bell housing off

The only other clue I can give you is if the bell housing is cast to accept crank sensor on side it will have been on a.1.4 ts tx 81 onwards low ratio
also if the top of cast iron bit has got 3 threaded holes it was for pas pump again not available on 1108 cars with high ratio boxes
sorry to late now for me to find suitable pics to show you

Actually there are 3 holes on top of gbox,2 on line and middle hole a little set back from bellhousing-if that sounds about right
it seems like you saved me from wasting more money on another wrong gbox ! which means the next bottle of red is on me:rolleyes:
-R.

All the later boxes have got the humps cast but not drilled and tapped unless needed for pas
however if a genuine s,e box maybe using that case for all rebuilt units

Don't forget i can still supply a box if your getting nowhere

Yes... could you get me the code off of it? we talked about a HA1/?? box I remember,if you could get the suffix for me
I am interestd,as the one I got -upon checking turned out to be a Total Wreck with missing cogs, large chunks missing
on other gears and also had severe rust all over...didn't even bother checking the diff as all else was shot.

What I need is the gbox with over-drive (from r5gl) with or without the shorter bellhousing......
The motor I will pair the box to is the R5TX (C2 JP7/13) 1298cc (Wrong!)

Edit:Should read 1398cc-82 mod. (not 1289 as it says over)
------------------------------
this one has the Renix electr.ign w.TDC-sensor
most important is I need it to be in good working order. Plug & Play works for me -R.

" you seem to keen to go to France and buy one" that's right..MY BAD! rub it in Good ..... :(

Actually, we were on hols in France but you're of course right.Much to my wifes dismay (I'm still paying dividends for that one)
I decided to drive an extra 1600kms to pick it up at the seller. Worthless piece of shit -the pair!

-I'd be most interested in getting a good correct gbox, checked and ok'ed would def.make me a happier camper. -R.

Hi again Paul!
-Not to stress you in any way,but did you manage to have a look at your gearbox yet? as said,I much prefer to have it checked and found to be in good working condition b4 it lands over here. It's getting increasingly difficult to have older cars repaired and serviced these days, saw in my motormag that the LAST remaining carb.specialist shop is o close down shortly over here.. Is it time? shoud we all just surrender and get Any new modern "contraption for personal transport"??? -R.
