We had a spare key cut and it has stuck in the ignition. The car has to be moved from my workshop this weekend and I can not start the car. Any advice would be great, and I would like to keep the original barrel and key, if the spare will release, as my original key has the operating instructions on, and would I assume, be hard to replace.

Regards
James

Do you mean that the key is inserted & won't turn in the lock or that it WILL turn, but you cannot remove it from the barrel when the key's in the "off" position?

Have you tried wiggling the steering? If you turn the wheel enough to lock the steering & then wiggle the steering wheel it might (might!) help. Moving the key laterally in the lock might help, too.

hi, it did turn, but then clicked, and now i cant turn or remove the key, thanks for the suggestion, I`m off to try and sort it now, wish me luck!!!!!!!!

depending on which position the key is now jammed in if you remove the securing screw maybe i toRx 20 or a small phillips or even 7 mm bolt there is a nother hole which you can push a small screwdriver about 2 mill diAmeter
and the lock with key my slide outwards you will need the key to be lined up with the blank mark on the switch
if you then unplug the electrical connection it is possible to hotwire the car to drive it down to the locksmith and ask them to remove the key particularly the one who cut it for you more info on request but no photos to hand to illustrate sorry

Three wires into the back of the switch( 2 red into one terminal) one not labled, one says bat + and the other translates to coil.all into 4 cell connector (black). Any help would be ace.cheers

You need 3 out 4 wires connected together for ignition to be on leave the grey wire separate touch grey onto 3 already joined release when start engine
Disconnect 3 joined wires to stop engine
Looking at pictures yours most be pre 81 rhd car

There is separate hole to push in release mechanism this will be at bottom of metal surround
If you are still stuck ring me Friday morning and will tell you more
