first of all high to all
wright i have a espace 2.1 td 1994 i want to change the gear box oil
but do not know were the bolts are has any one any i dear were thay are on the gear box as iv been told to try and change the oil due to gears being stiff
when its cold but seems fine after a bout 20 mins or so
thanks gary:confused:

I'm not familiar with the Espace gearbox, but changing the oil is unlikely to help (though topping up the oil might if the level is low). Much more likely to be wear in the gear selector mechanism. Of course if the clutch is not operating correctly (take up right at the bottom of the travel rather than in the middle) then that could cause gear secection problems too.

thanks for your reply it ad a new clutch last year was told new cable not sure about the cableas for the gear box oil not sure if it need filling up
as i dont know were to fill some one said it might be the clutch cable
exspanding when warm as the gears only play up now and then so im a bit baffled as what to do as i dont know were to fill up gearbox fluid
any one any idears thanks:confused: or any photos to point me in the wright direction

Can't help with where to fill up. To be totally honest this is a "Renault 4" forum that normally deals with that characterful small Renault in production between 1961 and 1994. Though we do show up on Google for all sorts so I can see how you found us.

If the clutch operates as normal (if all the action happens an equal distance from the the pedal fully out and the pedal fully down then I'd guess your clutch is working fine. From here find out how to check the oil level (or if you can't find out then check underneath the gearbox - if there aren't any leaks covering the gearbox with oil then most likely it's all still in there).

Best plan would be to quiz a mechanic about the problem.

thanks clemintine checked gearbox to day there was some oil fom the box
a few drops all so from the nut were you empty the box oil from so wondering if this mite be the problem so il have fill it up then see
but il keep you updated
thanks gary

hi gary
just to let you know that there is a square drain plug at bottom of box 10 mm you are unlikily to undo it without correct tool
renault 4 brake adjusting spanner fits (just in case you have one lying around)
do ccheck you can also undo similar filler plug 1st
can definitly confirm fresh synthetic 75/90 oil will make a differrence to cold gear changing
as now get loads more espaces to work on than r4s
