Hi Everybody,
My name is John and only recently have I come "out" about my love for the 4L...
Indeed many you you may recognise me as "renomad" from other Renault Forums,,but due to making a cock-up of my Registration:oops: I have had to assume a new identity. Anyway up to now I have had many Renaults incl 11, 15,16,17,18(x2),21, & Fuego.. but unfortunately due to redundancy in 2008 I had to reduce my collection which which left me with the 18 Turbo. This is the 18 Turbo that I have for sale on a few websites at the moment...My recent plan was to sell this and get another 15/16 but recently I visited a few Shows and I couldnt believe the reaction to a number of 4L's that were there..That and the current publicity to the 50th Anniversary of the 4 has caused a strange reaction to come over me---the little car that I once looked at as the Ugly Duckling and now become the Beautiful Swan(well maybe a little over reaction)but I'M SURE YOU ALL KNOW WHAT i MEAN!!!!!
Anyway, I have a 18 Turbo for sale so I can buy my 1st R4,,,,OR OF COURSE, if anybody has an excess R4 and would like an 18 then I'm all ears.I just cannot afford to keep both unfortunately ..My family have had Renault for about 40yrs,my dad having 2x 4L back in the late 60s/early 70s.
Anyway, hopefully my 4 adventure will start soon, well as soon as I can sell this 18 Turbo..Incidentally, if anybody thinks that I am looking for too much for this excellent car I would be greatful to hear any opinions on this
Regards
John:)

Hello John, welcome to the forum. I met some of your countrymen last November at the NEC. We were displaying our 83 R4GTL on the ROC stand and it created a lot of interest. There are some Irish R4 owners on the forum so no shortage of support in the Emerald Isle. Good luck with your quest to bag a 4. Regards Brian.

Many thanks for the warm welcome Brian:)...I hope that I shall be in a position to buy my first R4 soon..My biggest dilema of course is that I need to sell my 18 Turbo...things are so slow over here at the moment that if you advertise something for half its value someone will offer you half as much again:confused::confused::confused:..The problem being for me that if I sell my 18 for much less than I'm asking at the moment then I will only get a car that requires a load of work again and I'm back to square 1 and that I cannot afford that:shock:..Realistically how much do I need to purchase a good solid 4 that could be brought to a show and not disgrace itself or me? I dont mind having to do mild cosmetics but I'm not into welding etc.

John, can I suggest you put your Turbo on the websites of the Renault Clubs', so targeting fellow enthusiasts, and also perhaps Pistonheads. As for a realistic price to pay for a solid R4, I would say around £3000-£3500, maybe a bit less, but of course always check that chassis! Keep an eye on the forum as it's a good place to buy and sell 4s.

John, sorry didn't mean to put you off. You might find a 4 for a lot less, it's just that prices I think are creeping up, and after this year being the 50th anniversary of the 4 interest in the car is likely to increase. You could always import one from France where they are more plentiful. Quite a few forum members have done just that, and could tell you the ins and outs of buying abroad. I believe the site to check is <www.leboncoin.fr>. Good luck in your search. Regards Brian.
