What do you think about this?

Only galvanizing is pretty cheap but very effective way to protect chassis.
Prep work is what can be expensive.
There are two major problems.

1. How to get 100% clean inner side of sidemembers from paint/body sealant/ grease?

2 It is very likely that chassis will bend once hot galvanizing process is finished?

Well, these problems are unsolved here in Croatia (for now).
Maybe in UK or in other countries in EU it is possible to do all this.

Do you know anybody who did hot galvanizing on R4 chassis?

I have found one picture galvanized chassis in Deutschland. But I do not know anything about what was done, and how it was done.

There is a thread on here where someone is trying to get a new chassis created here in the UK.

I can understand about the chassis being liable to twist during the galvanising process, but it looks like someone has tried to reinforce the chassis that you have pictured, to prevent just this happening.

The thread is here;

I also meant to say that normally the chassis are chemically stripped before galvanising which would get all of the paint, grease and underseal off the metal.

Yeah those guys are relatively local to me, and seem to be providing the best service at the moment, but it does cost!!

Do you have any info about price?

Adding transportation from Croatia to them to their cost, and i can by a new car over here:smile:

It is about 2200 km in one way.

Don't forget that they normally strip the chassis, primer it, then send it back for you to correct any extra faults they find, then you send it back and they finish doing the galvanising!

Hmm 88000Km to get it sorted!!

I have just had a land rover chassis galvanised in Peterborough and it cost £200.00 Iwas very happy with it.
