Hello To All,

How is everyone?

So I have been a member of this forum for a couple of months now and thought it was about time I wrote a post and shared what I have been up to with you all.

There are many questions one may ask themselves about what they can do with a Renault 4. One such question that I have often asked myself is...

"How many hay bales can you get in a Renault 4?"

... Not one to shy away from a challenge myself and a few others decided to try and answer this question.

As you can see here Bertie (The Miracle Whip) did a mighty fine job and managed a respectable 6 bales. I reckon with a little more persuasion there could have been 7 in the back. Still with a bit of room for one in the front seat. Although the lack of rear view mirror coupled with blocking one window might not be the smartest move. Although saying this a roof-rack would certainly help.

She did look at home trundling along these country roads with the bales in the back. Almost as if she were 20 years ago in France.

Can you see the Ladybird Beetle in second picture?

What question needs to be answered next?!

The Estate version will carry four bales with room to spare. I read somewhere that one of the original design criteria for the R4 was that either version (Estate or Van) should have a sufficiently large load area to be able to carry (and restrain) one sheep, goat or calf.

Well i think if you had two on the bottom and then two rows of three you'd get eight ?
BUT if you were to get Nigel to pack it you'd properly get more, he's the only one i know who can get 300 cu ft of stuff into a 250 cu ft space.

That sounds like a plan Godlike! Will have to get a toe-bar fitted too and then there will be no stopping me!

Haha! Excellent Benchseat! You will have to get some photos to demo this for us! The four bales that is. I reckon I can get a couple of sheep in the back of Bertie, although as I am in Aberdeen I don't think this would be a good idea!

Yeah yeah Bobble! Nigel Nigel Nigel! Go on! You show us how it's done! Wonder if you'd manage any more in the F6??

There's still a fair bit of straw left in the back. I really should give her a clean soon...

nah just park it in a field and leave the back open and see how many sheep are in the back in the morning ?
