Idle problems

Hello

I have 850ccm TL. 100.000km.

With choke from cold , it starts hard and sound like it works on 3 cyl.

When warm, it works a bit shaky, on idle. Vibrate a lot.

What do you suggest, to check ing.timing, plugs, mounts?

Thanks

Hello Petarr
Congratulations on getting such a low-mileage TL! Has the car been off the road for a long time (100,000 km in 40 years is a pretty low "mileage")? If so (and anyway), it'd be worth checking the valve clearances and making sure that the valves aren't sticking. A sticking valve can cause rough running and the kind of shaking that you normally associate with a broken engine mounting.

Thanks on answer. Yes, car was off road during every winter.

How can I check valves, remove rocker cover and check them with tool?

Or you mean valve in carb?

Thanks

I mean the engine valves.
This page (and site) will be useful:

Contrôle et réglage du jeu des culbuteurs (la4ldesylvie.fr)

You can get a translation by right-clicking on the text. Note that the photos are of the larger (1108cc) engine.
If you haven't already got a manual, I'd recommend that you get one - there are other Croatian R4 enthusiasts on this forum who'll be able to point you in the right direction.
Good luck!

check manifold to head nuts are tight
gaskets worth changing if loose but tightening doesnt improve matters
spray wd40 onto the gasket area with engine running to see if running improves
be aware of slim possible fire risk so extinguisher on standby just in case

Check the condition of the spark plugs as well. If one appears different to the others it may not be firing properly, so it might be the H.T. lead, the distributor cap or the plug itself. All worth a look!
