Place of manufacture
No I don't know for sure.
The diamond plate says Billancourt, Seine.
That may just be the contemporary address of the Renault HQ or it could be the place of manufacture.
Renault 4's were assembled at Heidelberg some 30kms from where I live, so I suspect that, logically it is "locally" made.
What surprises me is that for the 30 months or so since I have have belonged to this forum, today is the first mention of the "high roof van".
Thank-you Hanz for your knowledge and the ability to grab some more photos.
On closer study;
the high roof-line in your photo is different to mine! Go figure!
Imagine, if you will, that the roof (above the gutter line) is vertical for about 20-30cm, before it curves into the flat line of the roof. The rear door of mine has an extension that is riveted along the inner seam, but is invisible from the outside. The extra roof section is gusseted with braces which appear to be factory fabrications. I can't be precise at the moment because it is now dark at the ends of the earth.
Thanks again
David
