Sorry me again
The interior mirror is not fixed to the front windscreen on my F4.
I have heard horror stories about sticky pad remedies.
Comments from the Forum please?
Thanks

you will find special glue (looks like superglue) at your local motorfactors--Clean inside of glass with alcohol of some sort.smear glue on mounting-pad on the
stalk then press it on hold for a few sec's and you're done c",) -R.

Thanks for response.
I am aware of this special glueand, in theory, how easy it should be.
But apparently there can be some sort of stress pattern in the glass from it with subsequent cracking.
This was on a Lancia Montecarlo where the glass is bonded in, whereas here we have a rubber seal all round.
I am not sure hence my question.

I can't see why the screen would craze due to the glue.Only exeption would be if screen was polycarbonate, which is not the case on a 4..
ofcourse one should exercise care and Not press on as if your life depended on it..-R.

Glue that is too stiff could crack the glass apparently, superglue is the wrong stuff, but the rear view mirror glue seems to work OK. I've only used it once but no problems.

The alternative is mirror fixing foam pads and they are rubbish.

The glue kit I obtained from my Citroën dealer to fix the mirror to the windscreen of my Xantia came with 2 very thin mesh squares. The dealer told me to stick the mesh square to the windscreen using the glue, then glue another square to the mirror bracket THEN glue the 2 parts together, so the mesh squares are glued to each other. Apparently this gives a tiny amount of flexibility which stops the glass cracking when you move the mirror. I followed his instructions (the glue is VERY strong!) and 3 years later my mirror's not fallen off!

Totally agree-those pads are useless!

Thank you all for your comments.
Maybe atrip to our local Citroen garage is in order

At long last got to looking at sorting out the interior mirror. This had been residing on the parcel shelf since purchase.
I found that it is in 2 parts. The pad which is attached to the windscreen and the mirror and arm that slide onto the pad.
This is damaged and so the system does not hold together properly.
I am loathe to glue the parts together, as obviously removal of the mirror with the pad still in place was intended.

Anyone have a spare mirror I could purchase?

Shame you never asked before weekend
The mounting is common across the range and a trip to a local scrappy will find on on a clio or megane to suit
Ps make sure you glue right way up as broke a screen once trying to correct my mistake
Next tip use marker pen on outside glass to ensure correct position also tape in place and uv light will set glue faster outside in daylight

Only discovered problem yesterday sadly.
Point noted about making sure pad is fixed correct way up. Also marker pen.
Thanks
