and the winner is....................... :hug:MALCOLM!

Gosh! So that's why you start Easter so early in Norway - so you have a week for the bunny competition. :D

Congratulations Malcolm

I bet Reidar normally gives this award to someone in Denmark or Sweden. Malcolm, you should feel especially honoured ;) (Terry Wogan will be posting a comment on this thread next.)

THE PRIZE CHOICES

(1) A Free 25m fir tree every Xmas in perpetuity delivered to your door.
(2) A week's holiday in Hell (inc optional trip to see the Northern Lights.)
(3) Unrestricted use of Reidar's house roof for ski jump practice during the winter months (concurrant option for beginners - paragliding.)
(4) Reidar's R&D resources re your secret R4 frontal accoutrement/gizmo for driveway regrading (BTW: Reidar will want the sole Norwegion franchise for snow clearing.)
(5) Reidar's 4 week Hennessy/Trailer building diy advanced technician masterclass.

Reidar I hope Clem and Fred are also honoured :):)

Only other job for the Nobel-piece(!)Commitee is choosing the winner of my Easter-bunny competition. This year they had several good nominees but after serious consideration-and taking into account Malcolm turned out as TheKingPin ,they landed on what seems the correct choise-
Ceremony will take place at Gods Expedition,Hell on the last day-
of August.
There will be live-music by some of Norways most famous accordian-players performing Death/Black-metal.
1st. prize is not only 25m.but will also be delivered complete with Chrismas ornaments On a swiveling pedestal so you will only have to form a circle and the tree will rotate for you.
rest is unchanged as per your description

Clem and Fred will be made Eternal Honorary Kings of Ivorycoast
-just send bank-details inc.pin etc -R.

I'm doubly happy today. Not only am I now a Norwegian bunny with a rotating tree, but also the official documents came through today for Ornella, the lovely '65 R4.

She'll be registered as KBD 256C. I've just ordered the plates, so with luck next week she'll be a legal citizen of the UK and will be able to go out and annoy the locals.

Congrats with Ornella malcolm! annoying the local-yocals sounds like my kind of fun.
having this neighbour with a thing for machines-
Any kind of machines the louder the better it seems-He's waking me with some manic for ever lasting work he's doing all the time.
I'm only a few days from having the engine out of the doner-this will be placed on a pallet with wheels so can be placed for best
sound.with no exhaust on it should be a success.Next time he's out there I'll fire it up and we'll have a competition.
Sold off my old HD knuclehead which was good fun to rev up-This new toy will bring balance to it all.
-I have now sessed out how Renault did it when they went for frontmounted rad.Didn't notice there is already 2 holes higher up
on Rh. inner-wing where the battery-tray will fit higher up so no problem re.rad-hose and fan anymore.
(since I HATE drilling new holes all over I LOVE it when I find orig.ones)
I think this might make me an Anorack right?
-SO pleased with the world right now so am cracking up my 60year old Renault Cognac tonight -R.

Which year is Roffen?

I've been meaning to reply to a previous message which I can't find - I expected to see it in the technical section. Anyway, the answer was that the radiator is positioned dead central in the 1108cc cars.

Radiator hoses are funny - I'm fairly sure the RHD R5 bottom hose is a different shape from the LHDor RHS R4 ones, but I've had no experience with LHD R5s so can't comment on their shape.

Roffen is an -84.
-at first it looked like I had to offset the rad to the R to be able to get the lower rad-hose to fit,but as the battery-shelf is moved up and back it will be no problem so I will mount the rad as you say Dead center.
Hoses are 40mm at waterpump-side and 32mm at rad.side
Got two universal-mount ones kind of Bibendum-shaped with a coil-spring inside to avoid flat spots Pretty clever as they are
40mm.both ends but with different -smaller dia.inlays 2cm wide to be put on rad.spout so the hose will fit snugly on it.Came with rubberglue
so inlays can be glued(vulcanized) so should hopefully be tight and nice..
they come in several lenghts
I went for 60cm long ones so can make nice slack bends..
-just found a pic.showing Ren.made a new battery-shelf with one long 'foot' underneath instead of two short ones to fit each side of front chassis-leg. -R.

Great news about Ornella, Malcolm, looking forward to seeing her in Kent :)

P.S. Where are you getting your plates from? Are you getting some silver on black ones? I may need a new plate, but new plates have to have the supplier's name and postcode on it, which is a shame.

I ordered them from Craig's plates on the interweb. They'll be silver on black. It's possible they'll do the modern ones without the supplier's name - might be worth a phone call to negotiate. Get the blue euro bit on the end - those ones look much cooler.

Definately sub zero!

Ornella's certainly on our 'Top Gear cool wall' and she may end up in the freezer with her new reg and plates. Well done Malcolm, we'll all need bunny suits for Reidar's music festival and award ceremony :). Wait till the locals see your winner's prize next xmas. ;) :p

Malcolm! smaller parts (Chassis-and rad.brackets/bracket for gearlever plus bracket for Rhs-of cross-member(?)all arrived safe and sound today-Thanx Much Malcolm!
-Have been given a good going over with ferro-primer so will be painted and finished tomorrow..
Hopefully the cross-member will be here in a day or 3 will deside if painted jet-black or beige like innerwings..

To all:
Disregard earlier parts needed-as Malc's R4AAA-service took care of me...............................................................................-R.

Excellent - thought I'd send a mystery bit too. On the GTL it is spot welded to the inner wing as the LHS support for the crossmember. Should be possible to bolt it in place instead of spot welding.

Aha-so it's LHS..
You had me going through my parts-books without finding it at all
-Not on crossmember -Not on innerwing, but I would probably found out soon as crossmember arrive.
am exited to see how all fits in there now! -R.

I Thought it looked like fitting to the RHS!
-well as long as it's a 'little on the side' we're still ok Malcolm c",)

not always easy to keep ones right from ones left-You know how it's safest to say Drivers-side or Passenger-side instead of right and left when you leave your car at the garage for something to be done.......... -R.

Its ok with that until you get to us crazy English people who drive on the wrong side of the road!

That's an Ostraaylian Aloynment Mayt

Hoy Malc, Your in roo-land mayte - thuy antibodees ......... G'day ;):p

Macolm. Crossmember arrived today-all ok!
have sanded it down and given it a good coat of ferro-primer and sealant, will give it a coat of jet-black soon as it's dried up..
Have changed the top-lid on gearbox from floorshift to in-dash
i.e Proper one! No sweat
Easiest if gearbox left in Neutral before swapping...
Near heart-attack when I drained R5box and first all that came out was water-then some (luckily)Black tar-like oil.
Water was all clear so turned out to be only condenced water Not the dreaded grey-stuff/mixed with oil. Loosened top-lid bolts -2 prayers to God then lifted it off to check-All bitz&pieces inside shiny and really as-new looking......
Soon as crossmember is finished I will deliver Roffen to the garage so hope to have it ready Soon now!
PS re:the guide-part for gearlever you enclosed. This is a little mystery to me-Am I correct in thinking this is for mounting on top of (old) rad instead of on this crossmember?? -Will see if I can make it fit somehow..
-You sent this along just to get me all confused right? c",) Thanx again/-Reid.

Glad it's finally arrived. I suspect I've sent the wrong bit, which means I'll probably have the right bit kicking around. You could always secure the gearlever with a cable tie as a temporary measure.

Could you post a photo of the bit I sent? Can't think what it would be from.

Which gearbox are you fitting? If it's a R5 one don't forget to fit the R4 bellhousing and clutch shaft - they are 10mm shorter: http://www.renault4.co.uk/gordini-gearbox.htm
