I have had a lot of electricity problems with my car over the last year. I had to replace many parts.

A little over a month ago, my car stopped working in traffic. There was nothing odd with it, no sign of any problems. I was driving in the city slowly. The engine was warm enough and the weather was good. The car simply stopped working. There appeared a STOP sign in the screen for a very brief moment. Then the electricity was gone. No smoke, no shaking, nothing at all. The handbrake was automatically canceled too. The car never worked again.

I first took the car to an electrician and they'd tell me that it is not an electricity problem, the engine is probably dead, go to a mechanic. The mechanic tells me the engine is dead.

Is is possible that the engine would die without any prior sign? even without any momentary reaction such as smokes or shaking? Why is there no electricity in the car? Could it be an electricity problem really? Is anyone able to tell me "engines never die this way"?

I am particularly suspicious because I am a foreigner in my country and I don't speak the local language well. I've had many problems with mechanics before. The mechanic offered me ridiculously low money to buy the car, about five-six times less than the money I'd spent on components for this car in the last 6 months alone.
