Leak from Rockerbox cover

Hello,

I have a persistent leak from the rockerbox cover , it seems to be coming out of the fixing stud at the front. I replaced the paper washers and also put a rubber one on as well. Anyone have an idea how to prevent oil from seeping up the fixing stud ? I am tempted to put a normal nut on it and try and tighten it right down but I understand the roxerboxes can warp if overtightened.

Many thanks

Duncan

There are used advisedly the thumb nuts, because the normal nut should be easily overwrought and the cover can be warped. May be your cover is aleready warped, are you sure it isn´t? I have the rubber washers under the nuts and it´s OK.
Greetings from cold, but sunny Prague. Pavel :)

Put some RTV sealant (instant gasket) between the sealing washer and the rocker cover, and a little on the stud threads, too. Tighten the nuts just until touching the washers, leave it dry for 30 minutes then tighten moderately.
If this area is visibly warped from overtightening you can always straighten it from behind (but putting an anvil on the outer side first).

There is a separating wall from inside, so you can´t straighten the rear hole on an anvil. I used the Brave red sealing paste on the cover periphery, so it should help under the nuts as well.

Hi Pavel and Angel,

Thanks for your suggestions I will give it a try

Best Regards

Duncan
