Hello R4 people, If you read my previous post you will know that I am converting a left hooker to right hand drive plus other stuff (eventually).
So, attached are a series of photos showing my work to date using a pattern plate from a very rusty GTL wreak to mark out and cut the required apertures for the clutch and brake pedal box.
I hope it makes sense !
Photo #1 shows the work site and a very important pressed indentation. This Lines up with a stud on the GTL pattern plate.
Hole drilled
Pattern plate fitted. The stud is through the hole that i just drilled and pins/bolts inserted is all other available location points.
Pattern plate refitted after cutting apertures.
Pedal box reinforcement plate drilled off the base plate.
Pattern plate back on the car to mark out the holes positions for the reinforcement plate.
Reinforcement plate held in position by the pedal box . I can now weld the reinforcement plate to the bulkhead using 'dummy' spot welds i.e.. weld through original holes. The bulkhead metal is very thin, so I was able to ease the edge up to form a lip as per original (almost)
I had to strip out the heater box to fit the nut and bolt for the brace bar. The whole thing was full of rubbish and the heater matrix does not look very well, so a new one will be fitted.
The whole thing is now amazingly solid, given that the bulkhead is so thin.
That's it for now.
Next job, the steering column.
Cheers for now,
Dave aka Pascals Pilot
