Local MOT done again

Hi ! i can very proudly announce that MOT certificate for one additional year was received today without any bugs.

Well done - we are lucky here, our MOTs last for 5 years on a car over 30 years.

Just think what could go wrong in 5 years

In South Africa, a roadworthy is for LIFE! You only have to re-do it if you sell your car. I bought my second hand Beetle in 1980 with the roadworthy and sold it it in 2008 when I came to France. I sold it "as is" so the new owner had to get the roadworthy himself.

Thats why so many of the cars are in such bad shape. Smooth tyres, smoking exhausts and oil leaks. A danger to everyone!
I do my R4 every 2 years here in France. I prefer it that way, so I know my car is safe to drive and will last forever

I am thinking that at least that you can do for you and your car is to go once a year to MOT and check are vital car mechanisms in good shape.

But that MOT is not for responsible car owners.
It is for those who do not care about their car.

Yep agree, the state I bought my 4L in last year after it had passed the MOT was terrible, no way should it have passed. But now I have totally rebuilt it there is no need for a safety check - silly rules. I want to take it to get it checked to see if my work is up to standard.
