Hi everyody,

I was hoping that somebody might be able to help me. I'm looking for some images of a car similar to one that my dad used to own. Its a 1972 - 73 Renault 4 with bench seats (that's all he told me except it was pink) and I'm trying to track down some decent interior / exterior shots.

I have looked through loads of images on this site and others but as I'm not that knowledgeable and the images don't always have that much info on the cars so I'm struggling a little.

Any help appreciated. Thanks

My father owned a pink Renault 6 in the early seventies. Could it be a 6?

Thanks for the reply Pepper. It is possible that it was a 6 I guess but he's always said that it was a 4.

Does the 6 have a bench seat and a high up gear stick? Those are two details that he has told me.

Hi NewbieT
Found some photos for you. The Renault 6 does have a bench seat and the same gear shift as the 4. Quite a nice little car!

If it was a Renault 4 it would have been similar to the one in the restoration link at the top of the page. Differences are seat material is smoother in the 71 and steering wheel style may be more bland..

Hi guys.

Thanks very much for the pictures mojobaby! That is a very nice car and it helpful to see the similarities in the interior.

Actually some did make it to Oz.

A friend and I each had one in Melbourne about 25 years ago after we discovered the delights of the R4.
He sold his and it was crashed, the mechanicals finding a home in a fourgonette.
Mine was sold for bits as it developed serious rust on the rear inner guards.
However, the French bug had bitten, so I replaced it with a Renault 5! That was sold when the babies arrived.
I have kept a fourgonette to restore for 30 years. It has a perfect chassis.
In the last 10 years I have bought another Renault 6 as well as a couple of R5's.
They're all restoration projects but the R5 is going on the road in February
at the current rate of progress.

Cheers,

David

My Father had the six in pink, but it was a lot lighter than the car on Le bon coin.

I'd love to see some old Renault colour charts.
