Loss of Power with vibration!

Hi all,

Require some advice please. Currently own a 2004 Renault Megane 1.6i Dynamique and was driving home from work on Friday evening when I hit heavy traffic and practically came to a standstill. When the traffic started moving again I started to accelerate however the car began vibrating and felt that I had lost acceleration.

I noticed on the instrument panel that the engine warning light flashed on but after 30 seconds it went off again.

The car drives however it vibrates and feels like it’s very slow.

Does this ring any bells with you folks? If so what’s the fix and more importantly how much?

Thanks in advance!!

Did the vibration sound like heavy rumbling bubbling? And is there any water left inside the cooling system?

It doesn't sound good - worth having it looked at before you drive any further in case the problem results in more damage. The loss of power might be "limp home mode" which is a setting the engine ecu defaults to when it senses a problem that could damage the engine.

HI, if it was the little orange engine light it proberly means that the coils are on the way out ( our scenic did that and it was the coils, you have two seys of two ) and if two are going that means the others will follow shortly, can't remember exactly but i think to do all 4 were about £160.00 at a renault garage.

Also if the orange light flickers go home slowly, if it comes on and stays on we were advised to stop and get towed otherwise could result in poorly engine and costly.
