lumpy slow running!

Ever since having head skimmed when head gasket began to blow in autumn 2012, never managed to get the slow running correct. It is like missing on one cylinder. This week I got it better by fiddling with the choke adjustment and mix control on carburettor, but not quite right.
Once on the road it goes really well, zoom.
Tried to fit electronic ignition last year but it would not work well. Back to points.
Starts on the button, no hesitation. It is a 1993 Savanne, one of the last off the line, always been in France, one owner before me.
It doesn't like the choke shutting down completely, really starts hunting when foot off throttle.

Any advice most welcome.

Check manifold gasket, and also carburettor-to-manifold gaskets for air leaks.

Are valves / seats OK? Did you had the seats recut and valves lapped in during head repair? Also, are valve clearances OK? If you have access to a compression tester, it helps to make a compression check.
