I have a W reg 2000, megane 1.4 16v...Have a really strange noise coming from nsf, i think........It sounds like a really creaky bed, cant think of any other description...I have today replaced the driveshaft, noise is still there........Only really when turning left, or braking...
Any ideas....???

I've no expreience of Meganes, but the creaky bed description is perfect for dry balljoints in the suspension.

Megane will have McPherson Strut, so there's only one balljoint - it'll be the lower suspension outer balljoint that's failing. Jack the car under the suspension and you might feel a bit of a wobble in the joint. Well worth replacing it as they wear very quickly once the squeak has started.

i get meganes in more often than R4s (unfortunately)
agree with malcolm on diagnosis but to check for play will need car jacked under subframe or sill then allowing suspension to extend downwards fully
if you carefully use a lever between bottom arm and hub end of D/shaft (mind gaiter) it should reveal play in swivel joint
even mot tester do not always do this and will often pass worn joints (same set up on MK2 R5 and Clio )

there are several variants on megane swivels so check bolt diameter 10 or 12 mm and bolt spacing if buying from a factor as parts books tend to be wrong although renault dealer will give you correct one but expensive

Thanks

Thanks.....Someone has mentioned it might also be the strut bearing, as they actually have bearings in the megane ones????? It`ll be up for sale, as it`s driving us up the wall now.....:(
