Hello! Am reading an old post about this; is Liam4renault4spares from Henley on Thames out there? Can anyone advise on this, if not? Thank you

Hello, welcome to the forum!

I don't think Liam is still on the forum (in fact, he was last here in 2007!).

I don't know how many left-hand drive cars have been changed to have speedometers in miles per hour - I wouldn't think most people bother.

Thank you jjad for this news. The car has only recently been acquired and requires registering with the Dvla and one of the stistipulations is a speedo in miles but, perhaps this is more general and directed at newer cars? If it isn't necessary, it's good news : )

New question: apparently the mot has to be recorded in miles as and conform to English road signs. Of course it is possible to be creative about this but how can the car be mot'd?

Have replied to post without noticing the 'reply' option on yours.
Am using a phone and not adept in IT skills.
Thank you for the reply.

I think might be a difference between the MOT test (which as far as I understand doesn't test the speedometer or whether it's in miles or km) and the initial registering with the DVLA (which seems much more strict in this regard).

I've never failed an MOT because the speedo is in km (sometimes the 'mileage' gets recorded as 'xxxxxx miles' and other times as 'xxxxxx km'!). Car was imported in the early 1990s, so registration rules may have been more relaxed then.

Someone on the forum might have a speedo in mph, or you could try Renospeed (www.renospeed.co.uk).

The MOT people won't bother about a km speedo. My cars were imported without changing it or adding any markings.

MOT is all you need to import the car. DVLA won't want to see it so long as you send the Carte Gris with the forms.

Good Morning,
I took an LHD VW Transporter for its first M.O.T last week. The new style Test Certificate is non-specific. The box is now marked "Odometer Reading and History"

If you haven't seen your wife smile at a traffic cop, then you haven't seen her prettiest smile !!

That is definitely an "early morning" quote.:clapping:
