New battery

I know this has been covered before but I can't find a recent ish thread.
My battery is dead and I am wondering what current opinion is regarding the best replacement.
My car is a 1986 4 GTL.

Go for a Varta.

The part number designation for the only battery that will fit correctly is type 048 this is not commonly available and no other vehicles newer than about 1990 were fitted with this type several manufacturers should still offer this but you will be restricted as to who and where you buy one from I would agree Bosch Varta or yuasa would be my preferred choices but will be at a premium price £60 + I suspect

Thank you guys. I think my problem is that I use the car too infrequently particularly in the winter. I have a smart charger. Once I get the new battery I must use the bl**dy thing !
