Standard there's no non-return valve after the fuel pump, but you cal install one yourself when you should need one.
The mechanical fuel pump is very basic (see picture) and works very well even after 500.000 kms (or 315,000 miles).
Do you experience any problem?
Most start problems occur due to vapour-lock.
If the car is left for a few days there is no petrol in the filter but it has a new petrol pump, when trying to start it doesn’t pump enough petrol to the carburator ?
Maybe an air leak somewhere or this answer from @mr-reno-139 in an earlier topic "The bit everyone is overlooking is modern petrol is designed for fuel injection and evaporation is at a much lower temperature, switch engine off the rising heat will evaporate it very quickly"
I would start a petition for the return for unleaded oldschool fuel
