hello everyone, i really hope you can help me...
while tryingto change the oil on my express (bitlike a 4 engine i think), i may have accidentally removed the gearbox oil...I opened the rear of the two bolts with a copper washer - not the one on the sump! how do i put it back in and is normal engine oil ok for this. I have found a small rubber tube but am worried it's for the clutch as it's located nearby on the lower right of the engine....
thank you very much if you can aid me at all

There will probably be a square plug on the side of the gearbox about half way up. You would remove the plug and fill the gearbox through the hole until oil gets to the level of the hole (and pours out as fast as you pour it in).

I'm not sure of the exact type of oil, but would suspect an Express would use either EP70 or EP80 transmission oil. Don't use engine oil - that's too thin.

As a side comment, Fairey who make overdrives for Range Rovers, recommed that you use 20W50 in their LT95 overdrives. I use 90 weight though, cos a Land Rover 101 puts a lot of stress on the transmission.
