I'm buying a new front-traverse that I will prepare to take a 5-speed gearbox (HA1?)
My question:
Instead of chasing a 5-speed box, is it possible to mount the 5th.gear on-to my existing 354 -136 4-speed-box??

I understand 5th.gear is kind of a Separate casing mounted to the front end of the g.box...
-If at all possible;
what else -in addition to- the 5-speed casing w/5.gear would be needed to get it to work in a 4-speed box?

Gearboxes to me is 56% Black-magic and 52% mumbo-jumbo ..all since trying to fix a Fuego GTX box once.
got it together Somehow -don't ask! but never got rid of whining noices (probably ghosts of living-dead Zombies) untill stuffed with lots of cork-inlay from a box of grapes. stuffed it in the box which kept it at acceptable level -R.

-PS:Good luck with the Kent-run guys -Hope you have a nice outing!

Not practically possible. The problem in fitting the HA1 to the existing R4 crossmember starts from the longer front section, which will be present even if you build a gearbox the way you describe.
Since the "5th speed" is a pair of gearwheels. The secondary shaft gear is add-on (but this does not guarantee that the end of the secondary shaft will be the same in both shafts; chances are that it will not be.)
The primary shaft with the fifth gear is a single piece part. Furthermore you will need the front cover, the front mounting and who-knows-what-else Renault decided to change on the HA1. So there is not really any point :-(

Thanx for clearing That one out Angel! Guess it's positive since now I have one less parameter to worry about.
Guess I will go with the box that comes with the R5-lump. If all else fails to give me what I am after,I guess there's always the Suzuki Hayabusa....On a different topic:
Any ideas re.where to find some Greek-made Renault-toys and/or models Angel? -I have a few made by Polfitoys but am always looking for others to complement my Renault/Gordini/Alpine/Berliet/Saviem-collection -R.

Wow! I never imagined Politoys would go as far away as Norway...

I used to play with Matchbox Norev etc as a kid and do not remember the Politoys range. I will ask a friend of mine, expert on this field, as soon as he returns from holiday.
