i have thoroughly cleaned the carb, but would like to know if theres any technique for ensuring that all passageways are clear, for example the long tube that projects into the float chamber ....i can blow it all through but still can't be sure that all passages are clear
 
I cannot answer that but guess taking top off to flush out crap would be useful? I have just bought a reco 28IF for an 845 motor and the studs were too long so got some bakelite/ composite stuff to make a spacer, keep the carb a bit cooler, no example exists in manual for this purpose but I figure as long as sealing can't effect performance as such,
