Hi Folks,
I've got 2 questions about paint.
First, my 1983 F6 was re-painted by a previous owner and he has described the new colour as 'Gordini Blue’. I have some rust spots to deal so I need to get some matching paint. I have checked on this forum and other forums and I have come up with two paint codes – 418 and 495. Can some kind soul tell me the definitive code? And is this 3-digit number all I need to order some paint?
Second, Halfords have told me they can make up any colour and put it in an aerosol can which sounds perfect for little repairs. Anyone had any experience with buying made-up aerosols from them?
All advice gratefully received.
Michael.

Hi Mike, a good man to ask would be Derek Flavell at Renospeed, <info@renospeed.co.uk> he is a top bloke, and really knows his stuff about 4s. He has a Gordini Blue van in his fleet, so should be able to help you. Regards Brian.

Gordini Blue as on the 8 Gordini is usually 418

Is it Gordini Blue though. The standard blue as found on F6s was Saviem Blue - code 423. I have heard of it being refered to as Gordini Blue although it actually isn't. As built it would definately have been 423.

As for paint, I have had Halfords paint before and its ok but the last couple of times I've needed any I've used www.paints4u.com and they are a good bit cheaper, mega fast and the paint is really good in terms of colour match and seems to go on really well :)

Thanks for the advice folks. Lobster, it was a re-paint job by a previous owner and I guess he liked the 'Gordini Blue'. So, 418 it is.
