R4 4x4?

Just had an email from a Spanish guy asking if I knew of a kit to convert an R4 into 4x4. From what I can gather with my limited Spanish he reckons that 4x4's were produced up until the 80's with this conversion (and in R6 and R12 models too!) for the services. I haven't heard of this. Does anyone know about this?

The "kits" made by Sinpar do pop up from time to time -they are all pats needed to convert to 4X4

There was a Sinpar 4x4 for sale in the classifieds when I first came on here, I was quite interested but it was a little too far away, (Spain IIRC) and it had quite rusty inner wings, so I was concerned that the rust shown may just be the tip of the iceberg.

Kits are frequently for sale on leboncoin. Often out of rusted out vehicles though, I've looked at a couple but they were beyond repair (or at least beyond my level)

4x4

If you go to the R4 4 life website, www.r4-4l.com/ you will find in the left hand margin a heading "Les 4X4". It has 12 pages of mainly photographs of the kit, publicity documents, and photo's of the 4X4's produced by Sinpar. It appears that just about every version of the R4 had an example converted to 4X4.
