Hi all, just bought a R4 1982 (ex gendarmerie R1123) with a 800 A7/05 engine which i believe is a 845cc unit with the Zentith Carb and vac advance distributor, the engine has done 220,000kms and is a little bit growly (main bearings) and poss has the headgasket starting to go - rumbles from the cooling system, so with all that in mind I picked up an engine g/box unit with less than 90,000km

The new engine is stamped 839 A7 /06 which I think is the smaller engine, 785cc??
The carb and dist are different

Question is;

Is this the smaller engine?
Can I fit it and use the existing manifold / dist / carb so I dont have to faff around with throttle / choke cables?
Am i going to loose a lot of performance?

The current engine pulls like a train, for its size, but I dont think it will for much longer :)

Nevermind

Just bought a whole R1123 for spares, with the 800 engine in it

SO I now have a very clean / less than 90,000kms (cant verify this but its what i was told and I believe it) 839 engine and gearbox for sale
