Hello everybody,

I have been meaning to breathe life back into my beloved 1986 blue van which has been garaged for the last 8 years or so.
Any ideas anyone on how much I should expect to have to pay someone to do a bit of welding underneath, replace front wings and give everything on it it a once over for MOT???!

Have noticed that Renospeed seems popular. (I don't have the time space or motivation to take it on myself)

Welcome to the forum. I had to move your post because it was in the wrong place!!

In short - how long is a piece of string?? For a vehicle that has stood for 8 years it is bound to need a lot of work and various bits would have seized up. Nobody can give you a price without seeing the van and also not before some stripping down either. As you have heard of Derek of Renospeed I suggest you contact him, or contact Malcolm who is based near Bedford. It would be useful to know where you are based as well.

Pepper, the reason I suggested that people put their location is that if they need any help it could just be round the corner. I am sure that if any of us who lives nearby to someone who was not too sure about something, we would happily pay them a visit.

Similarly someone may be requesting 'where can I get', or 'who can fix' etc and if we know their locality then we can say 'There's a useful place not far from you...'

So, to say 'home' is not really useful.

Sorry Steve, I was taking the mickey out of where he'd put as his location, I guess my cheekiness didn't come over quite right!

That's ok Pepper - maybe that's why we should use smilies more:)

Mind you, if I had my way all those registering would have to state their correct location.

Making the location compulsory was an easy one and a good idea. Working out whether that location matched an actual place on an international forum is somewhat more tricky. Especially as the software doesn't do it. :D

Renospeed would be your best bet plallenuk. I already have 2 winter projects on top of my own restoration project. There's advantage in having someone focussed on 4s do the work. Many others don't bother sealing wings and will happilly turn a 20 year life into a 4 year life.

thanks everyone,
My home is in Ely, cambs by the way... however my lovely van is in sussex. Reckon I'll be needing a trailer when I'm feeling flush enough to begin :)

Also, haven't seen many van photos- where are they all?!
