R4 F6 Van

I see that there is an 1985 Renault4 F6 van for sale near me on e bay, would the engine of this van which is an 1,108 cc and gearbox fit in my 1971 845cc R4 estate with out too much bother, the guy seems to think it's only worth selling for spares.

should fit in relatively easy.You need to use at least one of the chassie-brackets from the 1108 -best take both.You will aslo need the cross-bracket plus front radiator..Your 850 has the small one with fan directly on the water-pump.. you may also have to move the battery-tray approx 12cm to the rear and a little higher-My 850 had holes in correct (new)position You will aslo need the two rad-hoses from the 1108
Gearbox-mount is almost same,so use the one with most mileage left in it

I am going to have a look tomorrow but I would like to hear it running first because there is no fool like an old fool, as I have found out too many times before.

engine swap

You will need to change your bonnet as the reinforceing bars will hit the Rad,and check drive shafts fit as your camber is different as the van should have disc brakes.

I am afraid I missed out on the van because the guy that was going to store it for me decided that his wife would be a bit mad having an old van on her drive, I have four cars myself and no room so I missed out on the bargain of the century, as the van went for a miserable £156 what a bummer!
