This might seem like a stupid question.... but.... How heavy is the clutch?

I ask because my girlfriend has a bad knee and would love a Renault 4 but her daily driver is an automatic Citroen BX that is currently experiencing problems.

how exactly does one guage the "heaviness" of a clutch??????

is it a one to ten scale ten being the heaviest and 1 being the lightest? if so then as ive never driven an artic or for that matter a robin reliant then im not sure, but having said that i have driven a capri, xr3, metro, montego, astravan, escortvan, and this clutch feels NORMAL! i hope that answers your question:rolleyes: ;)

abi who sent me a text.......im looking for 550 pounds, i originally put it up for 800, desperately needing room on the driveway now, get back in touch if youre interested, thanks.

I very much doubt it Clementine. We're all quite an intelligent bunch.
Don't be mean :(. Though I guess you are alluding to the lack of information we have on this car after being for sale so long. I'd have had a look at it myself, but would have wanted a bit of info before making the trip to Peterborough, but didn't want to squeeze myself into the timewaster category by actually asking for it.

Yes, I too didn't want to be a "time wasting pr*ck". According to this gentleman R4s are "old sheds" and I can tell he's not too keen on me either. I've had to immerse my computer in a bucket of disinfectant!

sold to a sound bloke from colchester, came looked and drove it away, unlike the other 40 timewasting middle class tossers.

Bry, Im sorry you had such a disapointing experiance selling your 4.

Fact remains though you presented it (To me when i came to view anyway - im the one that came from northampton with a mate in a green 200sx) in a filthy condition. The interior was damp, and there was even plantlife growing out of window seals and the like.

It was also not a particularly nice example but this wasnt immediatly apparent from your photos. I wasnt quite sure if it was household emulsion or tippex that had been used to touch in such large areas and take the orange tinge off some of the rusty bits.

What did it for me though was that the only spot that had been missed with the undersealing was one of the chassis legs.... and it was rotten through

I had the decency not to offer you a small amount of money at least. But just to leave with the info that i wasnt going to offer you anywhere near enough money for you to be satisfied.

But you have to ask, if lots of people turn up to see a car and then walk away or offer peanuts its not because they intended to, if they have travelled they are serious. Its because they are disapointed to find they are looking at a tatty car that the seller couldnt even be bothered to scrape the muck off first.

Does anyone know where it went? Is it now with someone off here?

well the learned gentleman who is now the "proud "owner seemed to think it was in remarkable shape considering ITS 25 YEARS OLD!!!!!!! so may i suggest you dont know your rusty chassis legs from your harris...cordialement:wink:

Welcome to the forum Steve.

Sorry you had a wasted trip. Have you found a Renault 4 yet? Don't worry about plant life in the window seals - they all have that, and it's possible to remove it for a time. Rot in the chassis is a bad thing (though they nearly all have that). Glad I didn't go to see it - was at the point of doing so, but the seller's attitude put me off.
