Now the Gordini is finished it's time for Ermintrude to find a new home. I bought her in 2003, did some restoration work, and have used her as an every day car since then.

She has been (and still is) perfectly reliable and is nice to drive. The chassis is still very solid but her body has started to deteriorate.

Special bits are a good jig welded chassis which is showing no signs of deterioration, front grille from the post 1990 cars with the chrome badge, number plate with 52 in it which makes it look modern and posh, 5 lovely continental tyres fitted this year, exhaust last year if memory serves, everything works apart from one of the reversing lights, yellow in colour so slightly faster than normal, Hennessey Hot Up Kit (R5 carburettor for 10 more hp and better fuel economy). Brakes and suspension good (can't have been more than 2 or 3 years ago that I went around with new bits). 122,000 miles (they were only short ones), MOT and tax to February 2011 and new ones should be no problem.

The main trouble points in the body are the rear of the boot floor, boot lid, front apex panels, and the bottom of the windscreen. There are also shabby areas at the back of the roof and the top of a rear door pillar, and I'd be tempted to remove and reseal all of the wings. None of this would cause problems in an MOT, but it does need to be rectified before it gets any worse. I had been planning to take her off the road this year to fix those bits, but work has got in the way.

I have no idea about value. The chassis has been properly repaired and she should last for years, but the body is becoming untidy. It's normally the other way around with R4s.

How about £1500?

Some detail pictures of the flaky bits as requested:

The worst bit is the boot floor. It had a bump in 2003 so is a bit bent, and has since developed a hole. I have a spare but it's a weld in part.

The boot lid is no better - I changed it for the original one after the bump, and it's no less rusty now. That's a bolt on part.

The windscreen has rust under the bottom seal and it is letting in water.

There is a hole inside the car under the screen, so it may well be a bit crusty in there.

The bottom of the apex panels have rusted - the rust appears to be coming from inside the panel.

There is a small hole in the bulkhead behind the wheel, and a similar one at the front of one of the rear wheelarches.

The trim piece behind the rear door has rust inside. I can supply a replacement and sealing will hopefully sort that.

Couple of bits on the rear wing and roof

I'm still a bit undecided about what to do with Ermintrude. For anyone wanting a really nice car to take to shows it would be easier to fit a replacement body than do all the repairs to a good standard.

On the other hand, chassis and mechanicals are very good, so she could be tidied up and used for a good number of years if you put up with some of the bits that aren't right.

I have a yellow tailgate off a 76 tl, not perfect but alot better than that one, free to a good home, been in my shed a while (20 years about)
