Hi anybody out there got an engine for sale with carb ,for a 1975 r4 tl 845 cc with gearbox would be even better .
Thanks mark

Are you looking for a new engine because of the oil leak problem that you have with your existing engine? What ever happened to that? Did you manage to repair it?

Changing an engine for an oil leak sounds a bit dramatic to me...
I have a '75 engine, but is working on my '75 car!

Hi no still got the oil leak ,the engine I have now has a su carb ,not the original carb for the car ,the air filter is far to small ,it's struggling to get enough air in ,I would like to swap the engine and recondition the one that's in ,do you have any photos of the engine ,would it be for sale ????
Thanks mark

I've had lots of advice from everyone ,seem to think it's coming from the crankshaft oil seal ,sounds like a big job ??????
Thanks mark

No, the car is used and looking for a restoration asap, so nothing is for sale. I am instead buying a lot of pieces for the restoration...
This model has (in Italy) a solex 32 SEIA carb.
If you need some photo I can manage to shoot some for you.

Before you take such a drastic step, perhaps you should make 100% sure where the oil is coming from. It's best to clean the outside of your engine thoroughly and then look for the leak. I'm sure if you take a few photos, someone will point you in the right direction.

Stripping the engine down to the crankshaft is a big job, one that I've never attempted. Hopefully it will be something simpler!

Azazello- nice colour car! Very similar to mine. What is the colour code?DSCF6248.JPG

Hi image.jpg image.jpg
Hi this is where the oil is leaking out from ,it's coming from the hole where you can see the flywheel, some of the advice people have given me is that it's coming from the crankshaft oil seal ????.
Also this is the su carb ,it came with this on ,not my choice ,so if anyone has an original carb for a 1975 tl ,please let me know .
Many thanks mark

I think that even a zenith 32if7 from the latest 850 engine would work quite well on this engine...

let me know what parts you are looking for ,I will look for you
I have already collected a lot of pieces and chrome details; Now I miss some doors (a bit too heavy to ship, and I should not have problems in finding them reasonably near my home) and door panels... This car came with lovely red seats, but the front door panel have holes for speakers - what a shame. Now I am looking for a complete set of red sky door panels (not just the front couples because I think it is very difficult to match colors) at a reasonable price..

Hi Foofighter, the photo that you've taken is the front part of your sump, where the flywheel is visible, underneath the car.
The sump is divided into 2 compartments, with the back part carrying the oil.
My guess is that the sump gasket between the 2 compartments is leaking oil.

As I say, its just a guess and maybe someone can confirm my suspicions

Foofighter, a zenith 28IF carb from a GTL will fit OK on an 850. The only things that are really different to the 850 are the jets and they're hardly different at all. You will maybe have to plug up some of the emission control pipes from the carb depending on what are fitted to your car.

hi i would also think it is coming from the main seal, but with this age of car when these where new they had a problem of sump gasket leaking and the rubber half crank seals.
this would also leak from the same flywheel inpsection hole. first job is sump off it is not easy but can be removed with engine in place
rear bolts ( 10mm) you need a long one qurter drive extention which is about 1 foot long. this passes through the two holes which are pre- drilled in the floor pan .
need to take off one engine mounting bolt to help lift engine about one inch only.
when sump is off clean it very clearfully. then make sure where the fixing bolts go though make sure these are flush and not high. if these are high it tighteen up uneven and the gasket is not tight all the way round (ball pin hammer to knock the bolt hole area back flush)
glue the cork gasket on to the black metal sump pan with evostick, and leave a while.
fit the rubber cranck half rings in to place with lots of heavey grease do not glue these to the main half caseses
fit sump but do not over tighteen it is only a tin sump and it soon gos out of shape and will leek badly
i found that these sumps where never 100% dr even when new
