Hi there,

I am having our engineers fabricate a couple of R4 tow bars to EN standards. Anyone interested in one too get in touch....

Thanks All, - I'll get it priced up and will revert. I have a tech drawing of one posted on this notice board - but anyone else has one then please fwd. Prices around Jan / Feb - delivery in March / April...

Mmm, sounds interesting, Like to know the cost also please?

Told you it was quiet on here paul
Think people go into hibernation either that or forum notifications get hidden in spam email folders and how many people never check theirs ?

Think I'll make my own tow bar then, I have the technology:-)

Good morning everyone,
please allow me to respond to mr-reno-139's observation that "it was quiet on here".

I believe members have addressed and solved every issue on every Renault 4 ever, ever, ever produced.
Each time something niggly raises its head e.g. a rattle; squeak; leak; lectrics, I have found the solution within the pages of this forum. Hence, provided we* seach on here when symptoms appear, its only natural that questions are becoming scarce.
However, I'd be surprised if there has been a decline in membership or visitor statistics, since these will always be directly related to the number of R4s in circulation.

WE* refers to people similar to myself, practically useless and even less patience

As always, warm regards,
N

In theory at least you are right. However the recent thread about tow bars and tow bar drawing had be going to the search facility. I entered 'tow bar' and looked at each and every mention of tow bars failing to find a single mention of drawings. OK, a link has now been posted.

With nearly 500 R4s in the UK (265 taxed, 237 sorned) I am also surprised by how little use the forum gets. OK, as a comparative newcomer I have lots of questions to ask so always search first but invariably the Search often won't result in the answer.

Another thing is that items are advertised here, often with email addresses, but when I leave messages or send emails, the seller fails to respond. Presumably because they don't 'come here often'.

Here's one for you - although I have yet to Search for the answer - my 'new' car has 145x13 tyres on the front and 135x13 on the rear. Should I (a) change the front to the correct 135x13, (b) change the rears to 145x13, or (c) switch this irritating laptop off and go and do something useful with my life like de-rusting the car's floor?

PS Paul Cunningham has already told me what he'd do but at least this provides a subject for discussion.

Do "C"-it's a French thing! Citroën DS21 cars had smaller tyres at the rear (Michelins, of course!)

Daf 33 cars (my other mechanical passion) were built with 135/13 tyres, but the Daf 33 van (a rare beast indeed!) was specified with 145/13 tyres. You could put 145/13 tyres on the car (I did!) and not only did the car have a more purposeful appearance but it drove more smoothly, too!

Good to find you back on here again but reading your observations above perhaps you never went away
Biggest problem is when we go off topic and don't get told off by malcolm ☺
As this then makes searching tricky
We all have different experience levels and abilities and I am always happy to get feedback
It is a little annoying to keep answer same questions about R4 but a like or a thanks goes a long way ☺
