I'm buying R5 Gordini wheels, but there seems to be confusion about what size tyres will fit with the wheels on my R4tl, (1986 with front disc's)

The wheels I'm buying are fitted with some old 145,s and the owner says they are the largest you can put on,,, but I'm sure I've seen wider low profile type tyres on some foto's

Is there some adaptor or should they go straight on.. whats the best tyre size???

anyone can help??

Thanks

Mine runs on 175/80 tyres and I can't say i've had any problems with them.
No adaptor of any kind and fitted and balanced by one of the leading tyre fitment companies.
Can't say if it's the best tyre size but they work for me!

ps, Clem'll tell you about the tyres making your speedo underead by 10% but that's cool, means my car tops the magic ton easy!!!
Only on the same dissused airfield Steve Hennessy uses your honour!

Rudi.

Thanks... thats what i wanted to know..will tell the tyre place to put them on. in my broken italian, I live in southern Italy, loads of parts down here! . by the way is it difficult to drop the ride of the car.. think its got something to do with the rear splines, where ever they are, and perhaps the front springs?????

cheers

Check what sort they are - aren't the "turbine" type a bit thinner than the bladed ones?

R4s have torsion bars, don't look for springs!!!
You can lower the car as much as you like, but remember, it will get softer... better stay with the factory height, perhaps 10mm lower. Or try to find F6 fourgonette torsion bars, they are stiffer and will allow you to go lower if you like the "look" of it...

There are many 4,s in scrap yards round here but not vans... do R5 vans have the same suspension as i think these are a lot easier to find. thanks...
by the way how do you lower the ride height..only a little..i think you right

Thanks but whats the differance between turbine and blade. these wheels are coming off a gordini turbo?

cheers for everbody's help
