R5 Gordini Engine

Possibly a rather stupid question, but can anyone suggest the best place to look for a Gordini engine? I am keen to do a conversion but need to know if there is any possibility of obtaining an engine before I get too carried away. As an alternative, is a zetec a possibility without cutting out half the car? I only ask because of the Lotus Europa connection and I believe that the Zetec bellhouse bolt pattern is the same as the BDA. I also believe (but may be wrong) that gearboxes can be swapped to get things to turn in the "right" direction.

Any comments / suggestions welcome.

George

Problem you've got is finding a complete running engine with parts intact
i personally could supply probably about 10 engines but unknown quantity and will need rebuilding there is no carbs or distributors any good amongst this lot but due to renault 8 gordini and alpine a 110 fetching £25000 minimum most enthusiasts needing 5g engines are not really bothered about the end cost and will pay £400 and then spend £1000 minimum on rebuild
this is much help to the average renault 4 owner on a budget
r5 gordini gearboxes not commonly used r4 conversions also fetch £250 minimum in any condition how do i know this i have been working on lots of renault alpines recently20140416_112245.jpg20140416_112208.jpg

Just noticed that was my 666 post on here
Biggest problem with engine is width and length had to cut bulkhead out and remake to get 1647 renault 16tx engine in
with no room for heater also pulleys and alternator going to be a night mare as all modern engines drive ancillaries from crank pulley not the cam pulley at bell housing end
