Gang! Would a front and rear anti-sway bar from a R5TX (same as TS)
Front one is 16mm. Rear one is 14mm.
-Will it fit onto my F4 (R2106) obviously using correct fittings for them??

Project moving along nicely now,Finally found a next to new 5sp.gearbox
(that elusive one with Long overdrive) been quite a chase, since it seems it
isn't common even in France.. That's what father Time does to you!

1400cc motor being rebuilt as we speak,(have had 2 that was not worth the
trouble with cracks and all, this one was all there but I choose to rebuild to
see an end to it all.
ALL NOS parts is used, cost a few bob, but it'll be a Completely new motor so
hope it'll last me a lifetime!

I really don't know.
I suggest that you line up the 4 and the 5 parts on top of each other to see what the differences are.
Any difference in width will be a major problem.
Could you get thicker ones fabricated by a spring maker, using the R4 bars as a pattern?

Front one bolts straight on as got 5 gordini/alpine turbo on my yellow peril obviously you need the rubber bush link conector and the larger diameter centre support bushes
The rear is not a direct fit as far as I can remember also not all 4 have holes in rear arms for clamp bolts if they are pressed steel
Two weeks ago I had a big pile of 4 and 5 bars but don't think I took pics and now in storage buried ready for rodeo rebuild

Thanx much David and Paul! -I can't measure them up as they're still in France. Anyways, the most imperative one for me is the front
one as new motor and gearbox weighs in at some more than original,my F4 tends to nose-dive some more going fast into corners.
Already does that with the 1300cc so will probably be more accentuated with the new motor in

motor finally located by my friend in Germany is now being totally rebuilt to the highest poss standard with assistance from RS themselves
in Dieppe,I asked for Alpine-standards,which was meant as a joke, but it was taken literally c",) so I might also be in need of a really big
ships-anchor in the back just to stop it..

-Hope all will be ready for the meeting in Thenay, would be nice to meet up with both old and new friends again.. :drunk:

PS: Anyone having a Mechanical (by wire) brake-caliper off of a Suzuki 50 cc (80's something model I think) ? I've got some sexy bits
to swap if interessted...
Thanx again guys/-R.

There was a previous thread about ARBs
The consensus was that the rear was the most important.

working on 5 gordini turbo today measured the anti roll bar on the front it was 16.5 millimetres it is slightly different as it has a down wood kink 2 Clear the gear linkage Rod

No real practical help (sorry!) but it does seem to be the rear ARB that makes the most difference - my F6 is a lot more chuckable than the GTL ever was. Can you get uprated dampers for a 4? You could get Spax adjustables for Mk1 R5s which made a massive difference. I guess that might help with the front end diving under braking?

See you in Thenay anyway!

Finally got round to actually measure the dia- of the orig. antisway-bars on Roffen the F4 today, turns out they are already 14,5mm rear and 16mm front!
seems to be my usual M.O.to start at wrong end.. Can I blaim this on bad childhood/excess intake of sweets or someth' else??
-I'll be looking into R5 Turbo ones) as they ought to be heftier I guess.. Sorry to have wasted all of yours time guys!

am working on quick-release bonnet-hinges,much easier acces to motor/gear etc. when bonnet is all gone, got some nifty contacts for electrics, will try
to get some piccies if someone else on here is missing a life as me..
Have loads of NOS Allingquant orig gas-dampers around also some good old Koni adjustables so might look into that too.
-as the F4 has an anti-swaybar in the rear and dampers are as new, I won't mess round with these, think they are stiff enough as Roffen handles even
better with some load in the back (as would be normal for a van I guess) empty he tends to "top-out" in the derriere so,found it nice to have a cut&shut
inner-tube filled with sand laying in there.in addition this also dampens out some of the boominess and don't leave rubs on floor.

-I can't wait 'till all is installed and all ready to go... Look forward to meet up again in Thenay.

In the meantime I have to break-in my sons new Triumph Thruxton Ace Cafe, hard work but someone has to do it right?
my old leathers mysterically seems to have shrunk quite a bit. Strange Cow-stuff
