Radio problems

Hi y'all hope someone can help me.I have recently bought a used Clio Grande and the radio is driving me mad,it is not activated by the ignition but I have to use the power button to turn it on and off,also, and this is what is really getting my goat,it turns itself off after 20 minutes,someone suggested I take it out and look for worn or disconnected wires,but I don't know how to do this.I had it re-coded but it hasn't helped.The cigarette lighter isn't working either,I am not a smoker but have a compressor to inflate my tyres and a car charger for my mobile phone both of these connect to the cigar lighter.

Hi all, was there ever any solution to this? I'm experiencing exactly the same problem in an '02 Clio.

I would like to take out the radio to check the connections, but do not exactly know how to do this. Are there special tools involved? Anything to watch out when pulling the radio out?
