Did anyone tried to renew one?

Beside clean it from outside and change that big black rubber on top.

Did anyone open it?
Is there anything to change inside?
Is it possible to open it?

I have managed to take of big nut on bottom and cylinder on top.
But there is something more inside.

Thank you for reading and help!

I had opened the early fixed type of pressure limiting valve, has two or three seals inside, but one of them is a special type not available separately. Too bad as they are harder to find now.

So, maybe it is better not to open it!

How to check is it working properly?

The obvious check is to see if it is leaking.
The not so obvious test is to check if it cuts at the specified pressure. A special pressure gauge reading up to 30-35 bars is connected in place of a rear wheel cylinder bleeding nipple, the pressure with applied brakes read (at specified loading conditions), and the pressure limiting valve replaced if outside the factory tolerance (or adjusted accordingly, if of the later type).

I have never bothered making that gauge (it should not be hard), as I only had one troublesome pressure limiting valve that leaked. I am setting the adjustable type of limiter (when for example rear ride height is altered) by the "estimated guess" method of rear wheels not locking with no luggage in the car and the fuel tank almost empty.
