Rear Suspension Rust repair question

Hello,

We have to do the rust repair at the typical rusting place where the rear suspension bolts on.

The rear suspension is already removed so is half of the interior.

The plan is to lift up the body say 20 cm at the rear end of the car in a V shape so that we have access to the rusted area.

I removed already most of the screws that hold the body in place, but how far do I have to go at the front end? Is it enough if I remove the fenders? (the front does not need to be lifted up much)

There is some short of glue material between the body and the under frame. How to detach those?

Best Regards && Thanks,

Zsolt

To lift up the body in order to repair the rear chassis, you have to remove all the bolts and nuts (21 or 23) and naturally also remove the inner front wings. To detach the glue material you can use a machine called "decapeur thermique" in French :p (but do not forget to remove the tank !!!!!) to soften the glue material before using a spatula.

Zsolt,
Why not lift the whole body and do a thorough repair to the chassis. Usually when there's rust on the swing arm attachments there is rust in some other hard to reach places to.

Just undo al the bolts and don't forget the 2 ones in engine bay. You can leave the inner wings on if you lift the body straight up. Just let gravity do its work by lifting the rear end with a jack. Back wheels of the ground for just 5 cm is enough. You can speed up the proces bij heating the the aft subframe.

Succes,

Robert
