Renault 19 1993 starting issues

I have a Renault 19 1.8i 8v petrol cabriolet 1993

been trying to find a funky smell that has been coming into the car i tracked it battery overflow. The car was running fine before removal of battery and now wont start. The engine turns over fine but i can smell no fuel after a long period of turning over from the exhaust. Assume fuel pump iis not engaging. I have been told the immobiliser has been disabled by the previous owner. The fuel pump relay is fine and battery is not an issue as this still happens when trying to jump start it.All fuses are fine and the central locking is still operational. I dont have a key fob as previous owner has lost it and had the immobiliser disabled.

Any ideas would be welcomed.

sounds like its not injecting. fully check the immobalizer has been disconnected properly as most will passively re-arm themselves if the battery is disconnected. Also the computer could of suffered a voltage spike when reconnecting the battery and blown a transistor inside the ecu, this can be repaired (look up ecu repairs in auto trader)
If the battery was over venting this could be the alternator over charging and boiling the acid, this presents problems as ecu's dont like operating at 18 volts
