Renault 4 GTL B Reg Camshaft Urgently Needed

Hi To All,


I'm new here today, just signed up to see if anyone has a GTL 1100CC Camshaft as it seems mine has snapped! That's what my mechanic says has happened. I had tried renault and a lot of aftermarket sources and nobody has one.


Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

The 1108 engine was also fitted in the Ren 5 and it may still be possible to get this later part from Renault, providing of course it's interchangeable/suitable. This is a query for one of our technical gurus.

strange never heard of camshaft snapping ever
this is going to be engine out to confirm /replace
possible timing chain has broken , lot easier to obtain than camshaft ,

later 5 (mk2 85 on)cam no use as too short to drive water pump older mk1 1108 would be ok
may still have a scrap 4gtl engine about if you want to call me my phone number is on my profile --- paul

following investigation i do have a scrap siezed 1108 R4 engine (due for clearout) so will hold on to it till you have stripped your engine

do post some pics if it has actually snapped in half :eek:

the camshaft snapped on my rs turbo mk3 a few years ago now
luckily i was just about to drive off so no engine damage

it had broke clean in two right in the middle under a support where you couldnt see it until you turned the engine over with the rocker cover off
took a while to figure out that fault !
