renault 4TL door locks

I have just bought a R4 TL 1988 from France.My problem is the doors do not lock,I have a key for the locks but it does not work.So what are my solutions to this problem,are they as follows:
Find the number for the locks and get a knew key from Renault,as the key I have may be the wrong one.

Where on the lock would the number be? How would I access it?

Get new lock barrels from Renault with keys.

Or possibly the easyest route,has somebody out there got a complete drvers door lock and front passenger door lock and a rear hatch lock complete with keys that they might sell me.If so my email is

Apparantly,especially in rural areas in France,people do not lock their R4s
and as a consequence keys get lost and locks seize up.

daverax, doesn't the ignition key operate the locks as well?
Try somebody else's key. We found that one key opened all the doors on both our R4s although we had to use the cars' own keys in the ignition.

That's true, I used a lock from another car on the front passenger door. The key that I use is from my own car.
