Hello, We own a 1994 Renault 5 Campus.. which runs pretty well but having taken it for it’s annual service and mot, the mechanic says it wouldn’t pass the mot as the front subframe is too badly corroded. He did mention this last year too so we bought a good used one.. however he doesn’t want to fit it as he’s close to retirement and only wants to do small jobs now. So he’s advising us to scrap the car, which seems a shame as other than this it runs really well.. but he think’s it’s a massive job (having to take engine, gearbox, steering rack etc out). Is this right or is there any way it could be done at a reasonable price? I also don’t know anyone locally (we’re in nw Leicestershire) who could take this job on..
So any ideas would be welcome.
Many thanks, Richard.
