my Renault broke down...and it's a cam belt issue, it's only done 41000 miles and less than 5 years old....should Renault be compensating me? Has anyone else had issues please?

I don't know about any compensation, but I DO know that changing a cam belt on a Megan is NOT for the faint-hearted! I know, I've done one or two! Best check if the valves are damaged before going any further, which depends on precisely how the car broke down.

It's out of warranty so the likelihood of them compensating you is incredibly small. But, the interval for cambelt change is 5 yrs / 72k so if the belt itself has failed and you have full Renault dealer service history then there is a chance of a goodwill contribution towards the cost of repairs. Speak to renault customer services or your dealer first.
